Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy is a gentle but very effective body technique that facilitates rest, relaxation and natural self-healing. It is a holistic hands-on therapy that treats the whole person and restores balance of all the bodies systems. It aims to resolve both the symptoms and the cause of problems by applying light, cross-fibre manoeuvres over the fascia, muscle, tendon or ligament at specific points of the body with no forceful manipulation.

Bowen Therapy can be used to treat musculoskeletal or related neurological problems including acute sports injuries and a wide range of chronic conditions. It can help relieve pain and reduce muscular tension, alleviate stress and fatigue, improve sleep quality and mental alertness, enhance circulation and lymphatic drainage, boost immune function, improve mobility and posture, and speed healing of past trauma, injury or surgical procedure.

Bowen Therapy can assist people who have difficulty in conception, during their pregnancy period, and all the way to postnatal recovery. It is a wonderful therapy for babies with birth trauma also.

For Conception

Not seeing a success after many tries can be frustrating and stressful. Sometimes, it is out of human control. We understand. Among many contributing factors, hormonal imbalance, muscle and nerve tension, stress and fatigue, kidney dysfunction, diet and nutrition, and the quality and quantity of sperms are some of the most common issues to look at.

With Bowen Therapy, we have a specific treatment plan to assist conception and will work alongside your physiological and emotional issues that may prevent a healthy and natural fertilisation. We will help balance your endocrine system, relax your nervous system, correct any mal-aligned structure of your musculoskeletal system, and support your kidney function to improve your reproductive system.

During Pregnancy

Most moms-to-be would experience various physical and emotional symptoms during their pregnancy. Some of the most common ones that Bowen Therapy addresses include:

  • Headaches
  • Back Pain
  • Sciatica
  • Fatigue
  • Anxiety
  • Cramp
  • Swollen Legs
  • Tender Breast
  • Tight Hamstring
  • Breathing Difficulty
  • Knee and Ankle Pain
  • Calf and Foot Problem

For pregnant women, the Bowen treatment will be done seated, standing, or lying supine (on the back) and is performed with less pressure than usual.

Many mothers require recovery from childbirth and treatment for symptoms developed through the breast feeding period. Some of the most common conditions that we support include:

  • Mastitis
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Frozen Shoulder
  • Repetitive Strain Injury
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Sacral and Coccyx Pain

  • Colic
  • Asthma
  • Distress
  • Constipation
  • Uneven Jaw
  • Sucking Problem
  • Projectile Vomiting
  • Mal-aligned Pelvis
  • Limps Restriction
  • Neck Restriction

For baby, there is no waiting time in between the hand movements and the treatment is performed with much less pressure and procedures than is applied on an adult.

We use Bowen Therapy to support people with depression by relieving the stress and tension stored in the mind and body. When a person is wound up with unpleasant emotions or experience, every problem feels so overwhelming and unsurmountable. Bowen Therapy can help calm the nervous system to take it out of that fight, flight or freeze mode into a more restful state.

Although Bowen Therapy alone is not the answer to overcoming depression, it is a very supportive therapy that addresses the physical issues related to it. Our clients often feel their body being more upright, breathing deeper and smoother, digestive system improved, sleep better, think clearer, and feel more relaxed and refreshed after treatment. These positive changes help create capacity for moving forward and away from depression.

Bowen Therapy is very beneficial for people who are living with cancer and are coping with or recovering from their medical treatment. As a complementary therapy recommended by the Cancer Council of New South Wales, Bowen Therapy can help people with compromised lymphatic and circulatory systems in:

  • Relaxing Muscle/Nerves
  • Relieving Stress/Anxiety
  • Reducing Pain/Discomfort
  • Rejuvenating Mind/Body
  • Recharging Energy
  • Restoring Balance
  • Releasing Tension
  • Removing Toxins

Corporate Bowen

Apart from serving individual clients, we also provide on-site or off-site Bowen Therapy service for corporate organisations, which can be used as a means of addressing workplace injuries or improving workers’ welfare.

Bowen Therapy

Rest, Relax, Repair

Bowen Therapy promotes our autonomic nervous system (ANS) to shift from sympathetic over-stimulation (fight, flight, or freeze) to parasympathetic dominance (rest, relax, and repair).

Bowen Approach

Natural, Minimal, Optimal

The Bowen approach to health is natural. It does not force the body to change but facilitates it to rest and repair itself at its own pace. Minimal intervention often gives the most optimal result.

Bowen Treatment

Gentle, Effective, Safe

The Bowen treatment is applied manually and is gentle and non-invasive. It works effectively via the fascia and engages both the body and mind. It is safe for people of all ages.
